Flow – Ballina Co. MayoThe Local Authority Members Association took place in the Crowne Plaza, Dublin on Saturday night 22nd January, 2011.  The Awards were presented by Miriam O’Callaghan.

These awards highlight and recognise excellence in construction and economic development at local, county and national level.

This year Mayo County Council and Ballina Town Council had seven projects shortlisted for awards and were delighted when Ballina Town Council won the category for the best piece of Art/Sculpture.

Flow – Ballina Co. MayoThe five-metre high sculpture that adorns Ballina’s redeveloped Pearse Street received its official launch on Friday, July 9.

Constructed from stainless steel, copper, bronze and a special polyurethane resin, the sculpture – created by artist Joe Neeson – was launched by the cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Councillor Michael Burke, and the Mayor of Ballina, Councillor Frances McAndrew.

Flow – Ballina Co. Mayo‘Flow’, the new sculpture that adorns Pearse Street in Ballina, is the subject of an exhibition in the local library. The official launch of a new artwork by artist, Joe Neeson, at Pearse Street, Ballina, took place on July 9th.

The sculpture is 5 metres in height and constructed from stainless steel, copper, bronze and a special polyurethane resin.  It is believed to be the first artwork of its kind in the country constructed from this unusual material.

Flow – Ballina Co. MayoJuly 9 will see the official launch of a new public artwork by artist Joe Neeson at Pearse Street, Ballina. The sculpture, five metres in height, is believed to be the first artwork of its kind in the country constructed from stainless steel, copper, bronze and a special polyurethane resin.

Entitled ‘Flow’, the piece was commissioned by Mayo County Council’s Arts Office as part of its ongoing public-art commissioning programme, funded via the Government’s Per Cent For Art Scheme and by Ballina Town Council.

Eagle has landed as Joe adorns his home town street

Sea Eagle - Killarney Co. KerryA NEW resident has swooped into Killarney’s Main Street to survey the townscape from a lofty perch.

The permanent bronze sculpture of a white-tailed sea eagle is the creation of Killarney artist Joe Neeson and it has proved a real talking point since is alighted, wings outstretched, on three bronze plinths outside Reidy’s shop.

The sculpture was unveiled by President McAleese at the company s head office in Shannon which is the corporate headquarters for tourism promotion in he Tralee and North Kerry area.
